The MCP server is hosted, public, and needs no API key:
This server reads documentation only. It does not call the Stability AI API, so it never spends credits. Your agent still needs your API key in the code it writes, not in the chat.

Quick install

Open in Claude Code

Open in Codex

Add to Claude

Add to Cursor

Add to VS Code

Don’t see your tool? Paste this into any coding agent and it does the setup for you:

Manual setup

Run this in your terminal:

Check the connection

Ask your agent:
You should see it call a search or read tool on the docs server and answer from the Text-to-Audio reference. If it answers from memory without calling a tool, the server is not registered. See troubleshooting.

What the server can do

Example prompts

Once connected, the agent looks things up on its own. Prompts that work well:
  • “Write a Python function that calls Stable Audio 3 text-to-audio with a prompt and duration, handles the 202 response, and polls the audio results endpoint until the file is ready.”
  • “Build a TypeScript client for the Stable Audio 3 endpoints with proper typing for the multipart request body.”
  • “Show me how to pass an input file to the audio-to-audio endpoint, what formats it accepts, and what the strength parameter does.”
  • “How do mask_start and mask_end work for Stable Audio 3 inpainting?”
  • “How many credits does a Stable Audio 3 generation cost, and does duration change the price?”

Other ways agents can read the docs

If a tool does not support MCP, you can still hand it the docs directly:

Troubleshooting

Restart the client after adding the server. In Claude Code, run claude mcp list to check it registered. In Cursor, open MCP settings and confirm the server shows as connected.
Ask it to search the docs again and quote the page it used. If the page itself is wrong, ask the agent to use the feedback tool, or open a support ticket.
